The Leaders

All of our leaders have an enhanced disclosure check and complete safeguarding training on a regular basis. As well as this we have at least one qualified first aider at every meeting and event. Scroll down to find out more about us.

I’m Vicky (Cloudy), unit Leader; I’ve been a volunteer with Girlguiding since the age of 14 having been a youth member before then. As well as running this unit I have four other units and I am a Girlguiding trainer helping to up-skill new volunteers. I took on the unit in 2013 after the previous Leader moved away from the area. Since then I’ve had an absolute blast. I love running the unit and providing opportunities for the girls. In my day job I work in central London for a national charity, this makes it very difficult to answer my mobile, but leave a message or send a text and I’ll come back to you.

Our Assistant Leader is Ellie (Butterfly). Ellie has been with the unit since she was a Guide and volunteered as part of the Guide programme. It’s exciting to have so many Leaders who want to give back to the organisation that gave then so much.

Also with us as an Assistant Leader is Debbie (Misty). Debbie runs a Rainbow unit in Barnehurst with Cloudy on a Wednesday and Friday. Debbie stepped in to help the unit while Cloudy was on maternity leave and has decided to stay helping us while she has the time.

Next we have Pippa (Frost). Pippa is currently completing her training to be a qualified leader. In her day job Pippa works at the local pre-school.

Our last over 18 is Alyson (Sunshine). Alyson is Vicky’s mum and has been roped in to help more and more often. A retired teacher, Alyson keeps herself busy with visits to English Heritage sites and knitting little goodies too.

As well as our 18+ volunteers we have Storm and Flurry who are working on or have completed their Duke of Edinburgh service with us. We also have Snowy and Heatwave who are Guides and developing their leadership skills while getting to help the girls have lots of fun!!
