We are heartbroken to share the news that our much-loved volunteer leader passed away on Friday, 12 December 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was just 26 years old.
Her journey with rainbows in North Heath began 15 years ago, when she first joined as a Guide helper. From the very beginning, she always tried to do her best, approaching every challenge with determination, kindness, and a quiet strength that inspired those around her. As she developed into a young leader and then an adult leader, she continually grew in confidence and skill, always striving to learn more and to give the very best of herself to the girls and volunteers she supported.
Even during her illness, her bravery and dedication never wavered. While in hospital, she showed remarkable determination by continuing and completing her Queen’s Guide Award (the top award in Girlguiding) — a powerful reflection of her resilience, commitment, and love for guiding.
She touched countless lives through her volunteering, leaving a legacy of care, encouragement, and inspiration. We will remember her for her strength, her generosity of spirit, and her unwavering determination to make a difference.
Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a cherished and inspirational member of our community. Please take a moment to read the following poem, written by Storm (one of our other leaders).
Butterfly Fields
Walking around in butterfly fields,
Holding the golden glow she wields.
Among the flowers, soft and bright,
She turned each moment into light.
With her loyal soul she treated all the same,
A friend in more than just a name.
The hope she gave to all young minds,
A seed of courage that forever binds.
She worked where little wings would grow,
Teaching more than words could show.
With patient hands and open heart,
She helped small journeys find their start.
Her smile was warm, a steady flame,
A safe place where the Rainbows came.
In guiding she was always there,
Taking time to assist with care.
Now she walks where fields extend,
Beyond the place where paths must end.
Though colours drift and love does stay,
Nothing she gave is lost astray.
When a butterfly passes near,
Or the world feels warm and clear.
Remember this, and hold it tight,
She’s tending the fields out of sight.
And up above where some Rainbows roam,
Her brave kind heart has found its home.
